It's Time to Make the Switch!!

Due to equipment problems, ETPtv is currently unable to broadcast an analog signal on WKOP, channel 15. Given the expenses involved, we are unsure if it will be possible to return the analog transmitter to service before the federally mandated DTV transition date of Feb. 19, 2009. ETPtv sincerely regrets any inconvenience this may cause viewers who rely on over-the-air transmission. If you can no longer receive WKOP, channel 15, please call our signal hotline at 1.800.595.0220 ext. 239 and we will provide you with all the information you need to restore WKOP programming on your set.

ETPtv is already broadcasting two digital channels that are available to you right now. There are several ways that you can access this signal anytime you wish. The simplest and most effective is through the use of a converter box that is available for purchase at most electronics retailers right now. It connects right to your set and allows you to receive multiple channels from ETPtv as well as from most other broadcasters in this area. Even better, the federal government will help with most of the costs of the converter box through a coupon program. To find a retailer carrying converter boxes near you or to sign up for the government coupon program, use the links below.

More Highlights

Wide Angle
Japan's About Face
Tuesday, July 8 @ 9:00pm

With exclusive access to Japan's "West Point" – the National Defense Academy – "Wide Angle" captures a remarkable window into the shifting role of the military in post-war Japanese society. Ever since World War II, Japan's American-authored, pacifist constitution has mandated a strictly defensive military force. But the line between defense and offense has blurred in recent years, as Japan looks over its shoulder at North Korea's nuclear ballistic missiles and China's growing military and economic strength. Today, Japan's $40 billion military budget is the fifth largest in the world.

Capitol Fourth
Friday, July 4 @ 8:00pm

Jimmy Smits hosts a celebration of America's birthday that features fireworks, Huey Lewis and the News, Jerry Lee Lewis, Taylor Hicks, Broadway's Brian Stokes Mitchell, classical singer Hayley Westenra and soprano Harolyn Blackwell.

Nature
The Good, the Bad, and the Grizzly
Sunday, July 20 @ 8:00 p.m.

After a decades-long comeback, the grizzly bears of Yellowstone National Park appear to be thriving. Should they now be removed from the protection of the Endangered Species Act? This question has provoked one of the most emotionally charged wildlife controversies in America today. In the mid-20th century, Yellowstone’s grizzlies had been reduced to a relatively small number of bears that had stopped hunting and were living on trash intentionally left by the park’s attendants. In 1972, park officials reversed their policy, and the garbage dumps were closed. Today, after 30 years of protection under the Endangered Species Act, grizzlies have learned to hunt once again, and have made a resounding return, with an estimated 600 thriving in the 17,000 square miles that comprise the Greater Yellowstone area.
